Passed peacefully away on November 18th, 2021 Gertie (Hounsell) Lane, aged 96, at the Hugh Twomey Health Center, Botwood after a battle with dementia. Formerly from Gambo, she was pre-deceased by her husband Lester (2002); her parents Kenneth and Minnie Hounsell, Centerville; sisters May (Ron) Miller, Toronto; Marion (Gavrock) Pickett, Centerville; and Audrey (Jim) Strong, Clarenville.

Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories her daughters Lorraine (Carson) Thistle, St. John's; Cathy (Leo) Ennis, Gander; her 4 grandchildren Donna (Gord) Power, NL; Craig Thistle (Myrna Hynes), BC; Trevor (Erin) Thistle, NL; and Brian Collins, NL; also 8 great-grandchildren, Justin, Vanessa, Renee, Brad, Conner, Lauren, Jake, and Maggie;  her brothers Cluny (Sarah) Hounsell; Norman (Blanche) Hounsell and Llewelyn (Donna) Hounsell. Also a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Also leaving to mourn a special friend and care giver Lori Roberts, Botwood. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at the Hugh Twomey Center for the excellent care given to mom during her stay there.

Arrangements entrusted to Pritchetts Funeral Home, Gambo. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Emmanuel United Church Cemetery Fund in Gambo. Visitation will be Sunday November 21st  7-9pm, Monday November 22nd 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services on Tuesday November 23rd at 11am. As per moms request, please wear bright colours to the funeral. Interment to follow.
