Obituary

Douglas Brown September 28, 1954 – February 23, 2026

With great sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Brown on February 23, 2026. Doug passed peacefully at James Paton Memorial Hospital, with minimal suffering, shortly after experiencing a cardiac event. He was predeceased by his parents, Moses and Elizabeth Brown; and his siblings, Emma Rowsell, Seymour Brown, Gordon Brown, Alvina Lambert, Elizabeth Seyward, and Patsy Payne.

Doug will be dearly missed, and his loss will be deeply felt by his large and loving family: his devoted wife, Christine, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage; his son, Kirk; and his daughter, Michelle (Christopher). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Cassandra (DJ) and Jessica (Christian) Brown, and to Colby and Benjamin Parsons (Lauren), and a cherished great-grandfather to Emma and Jeffery. Doug also leaves to mourn his sister, Shirley Brown, and his brother, Watson Brown.

Beyond his immediate family, Doug leaves behind an immense circle of extended family and friends whose lives were undoubtedly enriched through shared life experiences. He was someone people could turn to without hesitation. Doug was always ready to listen, offer guidance, or lend a helping hand in whatever way he could, and the people around him were always reminded of this. He approached relationships with sincere generosity, and he understood that everyday granted him the opportunity for his genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Doug's character was a constant reminder of what truly matters in life. He demonstrated through the way he lived, that a meaningful life is measured not by possessions or status, but by the time we give, the connections we build, and the lasting impact we have on the people around us. More than anything, Doug was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a loyal friend.

His greatest joy came from the people he loved, and he carried that love into every part of his life. He will be remembered for his warmth, his strength, and the unwavering support he gave so freely to those around him. His presence shaped the lives of many, and his memory will continue to do so for years to come.

Visitation will be held at Pritchett's Funeral Home, Gambo, for family on Tuesday, February 24 from 6:00–8:00 pm. Visitation will be open to family and friends on Wednesday, February 25 from 2:00–8:00 pm, with a family service held at 8:00 pm. Visitation will also take place on Thursday, February 26 from 10:00 am–1:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at the Salvation Army, Gambo at 2:00 pm.
