Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Matthew Thomas Neal announce his passing on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the age of 81 years. He passed peacefully at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander, Newfoundland surrounded by his children.

Predeceased by his wife, Geraldine on Friday, September 15, 2023. His parents, Jesse and Gladys Neal, and daughter-in-law Stephanie Neal.

Leaving to mourn are his children, Marlene (Byron), Colleen (Moe), Kevin (Carolyn), Jeffery (Kathy) and Jason (Victoria); grandchildren Ashley, Bradley, Blake, Kathryn, Jasmine, Kevin, Griffin, Aiden and Lacie; and  great grandchildren Jason, Ashton and Avery. Also mourned by his siblings George, Lima, Betty, Lloyd, Melvin and Lorne, and extended family and friends.

Matthew will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Matt left a positive impression on everyone he met. To know Matt truly was to love him like family.

Visitation will take place at Pritchett's Funeral Home on Monday, September 25th, 2023 from 2:00pm-9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at the Salvation Army Church in Gambo on Tuesday, September  26, 2023 at 11:00am. Internment will follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Gambo.

Donations in memory of Matthew can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Oram's Bethesda Manor, Gander, and to the staff of the Medicine/Palliative Care unit of James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander for their kindness and compassion to Matthew and his family during this difficult time.
