Melva Eletina Warren (nee Goulding)
Surrounded by her loving family, Melva peacefully passed away at the Lionel Kelland Hospice in
Grand Falls-Windsor.
She was the third child of Sylvester and Jane Goulding of Middle Brook Gambo. Her father died
just before she was born. Jane later married Abraham Goulding who raised Melva and her
siblings in a loving environment.
In September of 1950 she married John Warren and raised five children: Alfred (Brenda), Gerald
(Shirley), John (Helen), Donna (Richard Parsons) and Garry (Jennifer).
She lived in Gambo until October 1970 when she and John moved the family to Port aux
Basques where she resided until 1981 before moving back to Gambo. After John passed away in
1997, she stayed in the family home until 2022. Following a brief illness she moved into
Hollett's Retirement Home in Grand Falls-Windsor where she lived until her passing.
She was an active member of the Salvation Army Corps in both Gambo and Port aux Basques.
She was a member of the Home League attending camps throughout the years, the League of
Mercy and the baker of thousands of rolls for cold plates. She was an active member of the
Gambo Heritage Seniors Group and the Gambo Legion Branch 67.
Never one to turn down a good game of cards, a price of admission to her house, she was
always ready for a call to the Anglican Saturday night card game.
Predeceased by her husband John, her parents Jane and Sylvester / Abraham, sisters Frederica
(Cyril) and Lucy (Jim), brothers Issac and Kitchener (Dorothy).
Left to mourn are her children, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, her sister-in-law,
Flossie Sceviour and numerous nieces and nephews.
Resting at Pritchett's Funeral Home Gambo, visitation times will be on April 16 from 2:00 pm to
9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel Thursday April 17 at 2 pm.
Interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery.
Donations to the Salvation Army in Gambo or to Lionel Kelland Hospice in Grand Falls-Windsor
will be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hollett's Retirement Home for the care she received
for the two years she lived there. Mom called them her angels. We would also like to thank the
doctors and staff of the Central Newfoundland Hospital. Special thanks go to the staff and
volunteers of the Lionel Kelland Hospice in Grand Falls-Windsor for the loving and respectful
care Mom received in her last days. We are forever grateful.
