Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

Norma Philomena MacDonald, 84, of Labrador City, NL, passed way Wednesday, September 23 at Oram’s Emmanuel Manor in Gambo, NL.

Norma was born on November 23, 1941 in Howard’s NL to Mary and Ralph MacDonald, the youngest of six children. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings, James, Edna, Colin and Gerald, and her partner, Fred.

Norma is survived by her children, Barbara Mercer (Rodney) of Labrador City, NL, Daphne Parsons (Stephen) of Kitchener, ON, Tracy Pierce of Pensacola, FL and Wanda Collins (Richard) of Sandy Cove, NL; five grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Kaylee, Samantha, Scott; four great grandchildren, Brayden, Charles, Remy, Everett; her Sister, Marie Simon of Black Duck NL; many Nieces and Nephews.

A great cook and baker, Norma was known to make the best pies and cakes. She was immensely creative and always had a solution or work-around for any project. Norma taught herself how to crochet and produced many beautiful pieces loved by family and friends. She could play several instruments and had a knack for picking up a tune just by listening to it. Her children and grandchildren will miss their birthday phone calls featuring her keyboard.

With an eye for sparkle, Norma loved her jewelry collection and never missed an opportunity to dress up. She was also known for her great sense of humour and always appreciated a good joke or a silly picture. Norma was the centre of many funny stories that will be lovingly remembered by her family and retold for years to come.

The family would like to thank the staff at Oram’s Emmanuel Manor, Gambo, NL for her care and her new found friends for their companionship over these past few months.

Cremation will take place and a private memorial will occur at a later date.

Forever in our hearts Mom - We love you more!
