Richard Bela Granter

July 26, 1947 to August 6, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard Bela Granter of Gambo announce his

sudden passing on August 6 th , 2026, at the age of 79 after a brief admission to James

Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander.

Richard, affectionally known as “Dick” was born on July 26, 1947 to Edward and

Dorothy Granter in Middle Brook, Newfoundland. Dick and his siblings, Florence,

Raymond, Sydney (George) and Edward (Lloyd) were raised in Gander until the

family moved to Gambo in 1961 where Dick later met his wife, Melinda. They were

married in Gambo on July 25 th 1966 and had two children, Johnathan and Donna. Dick

had a long career appliance repair and also the restaurant business. He was well known

for his quick wit and loveable personality.

Left to mourn are his wife of 60 years, Melinda and their children, Johnathan (Laurie),

Donna ( Correy); Grandchildren, Drake and Gavin; brother, Raymond ; as well as a

large circle of extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff at James Paton

Memorial Hospital, who have always provided such wonderful care to Richard

throughout his multiple admissions.

Cremation has taken place. 

Visitation at Pritchett's Funeral Home   10 am - 11 am Sunday August 9th. With a service at the Funeral Home to follow. Inurnment will take place immediately after the service.
