Obituary

Roy Wilfred Snelgrove

February 18, 1940 - April 25, 2022

Passed peacefully away at his home in Gambo on April 25, 2022 with his loving family by his side.

Predeceased by parents Samuel and Gladys Snelgrove, brother and sister-in-law Majors Herbert and Pearl Snelgrove, and in-laws Stanley and Jennie Burt. Left to mourn are his devoted wife Doris (nee Burt) of 55 years; children, Janice (Donald), Marlene (Jamie), Chris (Susan), Charmaine (Paul); grandchildren, Travis, Jordan, Hilary, Ryan, Emily, and Luke; sister, Joanne (Richard) Morrissey and sister in-laws Carol (Bob) Reynolds, Suzanne (Edward) Pynn; also many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Roy cherished his family and gave them all his love, support, time, and talents. They can attribute many of their successes to his thoughtful guidance and encouragement. He celebrated all their accomplishments and took great pride in seeing each of them flourish in life.

The number of friendships he developed over his lifetime was remarkable. They existed near and far and he received such wonderful support from them during his illness.  He exemplified a great and trusted friend who was worthy of all the attention. Whether you were a lifetime friend or a recent acquaintance, you experienced his giving and helping hand in whatever you requested.

Roy was a very humble, intelligent man who enjoyed nature and the simpler things in life. He was incredibly talented and creative and had his own unique vision of how he wanted his designs to look. His craftsmanship is everywhere around us. He loved playing and listening to music. It served as therapy in his quite time.

Roy took the news of his illness with strength and grace and lived his remaining days with dignity, spending time with those he loved the most. In fact, he told his children many times that there was nothing on his bucket list left to complete. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy that will be cherished for many years to come.

The family will gratefully accept donations toward Roy & Doris' Annual Award at the Smallwood Academy Awards ceremony.

Funeral services will be by invitation only. The service may be viewed online through the link below.
