Obituary

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her family at Gander Hospital after a brief illness, Shirley Olive Short (Hender) of Glovertown NL. Leaving to mourn her children, Bryce & wife Kim Sherwood Park AB, Juanita & husband Jim Dowden Glovertown NL, Rhonda & husband Romeo Rodriguez Terra Nova NL. Also leaving to mourn her five grandchildren & 6 great grand children: Samara & husband Jake Taylor (Elliot, Aubrey, & Casey) of Sherwood Park AB, Keshia Short & partner Ken L'Heureux of Edmonton AB, Andrew & Larissa Rodriguez (River) of Glace Bay NS., Jade & Jeff Janes (Kayleigh & Harper) of Gambo NL & Jennifer Dowden of Prince George BC.

Shirley is pre-deceased by her husband Frank Short, parents Alfred & Ada Hender, brothers Douglas & Claude, & sisters-in-law Rose & Ada. Also leaving to mourn are her siblings Cecil, Calvin, Clayton(Winnie), Evelyn(Derek) & Scott(Wendy & Niece Rebecca). Her in-laws Jean & Margaret, Her Short in-laws; Harold(Pearl), Claude Barefoot, Eric, Olive , Julia (Len), Vera(Armine), Jim(Bonnie). And a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews & friends.

Shirley was born in Middle Brook Gambo NL and lived in Terra Nova after marrying Frank. They moved to Gambo in 1977 where she lived until late 2015 and then she moved to Glovertown & lived there independently until her passing. She had a seasonal RV in Terra Nova where she spent countless hours berry picking, playing Scrabble, doing puzzles with her berry picking buddies Liz Saunders and sister Evelyn.

Resting at Pritchett's Funeral Home.

Visitation times 7 - 9 Sunday April 16th, 2-9 Monday April 17th.

Funeral service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church in Gambo on Tuesday, April 18th at 2:00pm.
